‘Sex Work Sashay’: A [Quick Write] Poem

April is National Poetry Month and my commitment to a ’30 in 30: A Blog A Day’.

‘Sex Work Sashay’

Corner standing

Back seat landing

More than 10 hours

A Week…

Full-time but

No time

For the happiness

She seeks.

Up. And.

There is no

[Space or Silence]

In between.

But head held high.

As she crosses them

Happiness, her dream.

Struttin with the baddest

Of them.

That’s what she knows.

Smarter than all

Of them.

Mama taught her so.

This life is…

She is.

Yet, she walks by…

Head held high.

And in happiness…

She believes.
